தமிழகத்திற்கு ரூ. 16,000 கோடி திட்ட ஒதுக்கீடு

சென்னை: தமிழகத்திற்கு 2008-09ம் ஆண்டுக்கான திட்ட ஒதுக்கீடாக ரூ. 16,000 கோடியை மத்திய திட்டக் கமிஷன் அறிவித்துள்ளது.இதுகுறித்து முதல்வர் கருணாநிதி வெளியிட்டுள்ள செய்திக்குறிப்பு:தமிழகத்திற்கு கடந்த ஆண்டு திட்ட ஒதுக்கீடாக ரூ. 14,000 கோடி அளிக்கப்பட்டது. இந்த நிலையில், 2008-09ம் ஆண்டுக்கான திட்ட ஒதுக்கீட்டை இறுதி செய்வதற்கான கூட்டம் நேற்று டெல்லியில் நடந்தது.இதில் தமிழகத்தின் சார்பில் கல்வி அமைச்சர் அன்பழகன் கலந்து கொண்டார். திட்டக் கமிஷன் துணைத் தலைவர் எம்.எஸ். அலுவாலியாவுடன் நடந்த சந்திப்பில், சென்னை மெட்ரோ ரயில் திட்டம், நதிகளை இணைக்கும் திட்டம் உள்ளிட்ட பெரும் திட்டங்களை தமிழக அரசு அமல்படுத்தவிருப்பதால் கூடுதல் நிதி அளிக்க வேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்தினார்.அப்போது எம்.எஸ். அலுவாலியா தமிழகத்திற்கு ரூ. 15,000 கோடி ஒதுக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதாக தெரிவித்தார். ஆனால் இது போதாது என்று தமிழகத்தின் தரப்பில் வலியுறுத்தியதால் ரூ. 16,000 கோடியாக நிதி உயர்த்தப்பட்டது.தமிழகத்தில் பல்வேறு திட்டங்கள் சிறப்பாக நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டு வருவதைப் பாராட்டிய அலுவாலியா, பெண்கள் மற்றும் குழந்தைகள் நலனுக்கான சமூக நலத் திட்டங்களையும் தமிழக அரசு சிறப்பாக செயல்படுத்துவதாகவும் பாராட்டினார் என்று முதல்வர் கருணாநிதி தனது அறிக்கையில் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

மதுரையில் பிபிஓ நிறுவனத்தை துவக்கியது சுந்தரம் பைனான்ஸ்

மதுரை: மதுரையில் சுந்தரம் பைனான்ஸ் பிபிஓ (BPO) நிறுவனத்தை துவக்கியுள்ளது. சென்னைக்கு வெளியே இந்த நிறுவனம் அமைத்துள்ள முதல் பிபிஓ இதுவாகும்.இதில் 100 பேருக்கு வேலைவாய்ப்பு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. வரும் 2009ம் ஆண்டுக்குள் ஊழியர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 400 முதல் 500 ஆக உயரும் என இதன் நிர்வாக இயக்குனர் டி.டி.சீனிவாசராகவன் தெரிவித்தார்.முதல் கட்டமாக இன்சூரன்ஸ் துறை சார்ந்த பணிகளை இந்த பிபிஓ கையாளும். படிப்படியாக வேறு துறைகளிலும் விரிவாக்கம் செய்ய திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.மதுரையில் கிளையை துவங்கியுள்ளதன் மூலம் சுந்தரம் பைனான்ஸ் தனது வர்த்தகத்தை ரூ. 17 கோடியில் இருந்து அடுத்த சில ஆண்டுகளில் ரூ. 30 கோடியாக அதிகரிக்க திட்டமிட்டுள்ளது.சுந்தரம் பிபிஓவின் 75 சதவீத வர்த்தகம் உள்நாடுகளில் இருந்து கிடைத்துள்ளது. இதனால் அமெரிக்க டாலர் மதிப்பு வீழ்ச்சியால் தங்களுக்கு பாதிப்பு இருக்காது என சீனிவாசராகவன் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.சென்னையில் சுந்தரம் பைனான்ஸ் 7 பிபிஓ கிளைகளை நடத்தி வருகிறது. இப்போது தான் மதுரையில் கிளையை துவக்கியுள்ளது.மதுரைக்கு வந்துள்ள முதல் பெரிய பிபிஓ நிறுவனமும் இதுவே.மதுரையில் சாப்ட்வேர் பார்க்குகள் அமைக்கும் வேலைகளும் மிக வேகமாக நடந்து வருகின்றன. இங்கு தங்கள் கிளைகளைத் துவங்க டிசிஎஸ், எச்சிஎல் ஆகிய முன்னணி ஐடி திட்டமிட்டுள்ளது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது

‘Education U.K.’ exhibition opens in Chennai today

CHENNAI:
British Council will organise its annual ‘Education U.K.’ exhibition here on Tuesday and Wednesday. The exhibition will give students and parents an opportunity to interact with representatives from nearly 55 U.K.-based institutions. Statistics from the British Council indicate that more than 27,000 Indian students are currently studying in the UK. The range of options in courses and short duration of programmes attract more students, say Council’s representatives. The interaction with representatives would give students an idea of not only the courses offered, but also of admission procedures and other requirements.The exhibition will be held at Hotel Taj Coromandel between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on both days. Entry to the exhibition is free.

Battalion felicitates NCC cadets

VELLORE: The Commanding Officer of the 10 Tamil Nadu National Cadet Corps Battalion, Vellore, Ajay Kumar, presented a trophy to eight senior division NCC cadets of the battalion at the battalion office here on Thursday. They were among the 12-member group of the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry NCC Directorate, which won the first prize in group dance (folk) event in the cultural programmes held as part of the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi. The cadets from the Vellore battalion, who participated in the prize-winning event, comprised six from Muthurangam Government Arts College, Vellore and two from Voorhees College, Vellore .
Y. Chandra Gunasekharan and D. Manivanna Pandian, NCC Officers of Voorhees College, S. Marimuthu, NCC Officer of Muthurangam Government Arts College, and K. Raja, Public Relations Officer of the 10 TN NCC Battalion, participated in the function.

Polio immunisation drive tomorrow

CHENNAI: Even as 72 lakh children aged 5 were given pulse polio drops in the first phase of immunisation, the second phase will be conducted on February 10.About 30,000 children of construction workers from other States were administered the vaccine in the first phase. Those children covered in the first phase would be given the drops again on February 10, says a release from the Health Department. The Health and Family Welfare Department will set up more than 40,000 immunisation booths in government Hospitals, Primary Health Centres, health sub-centres, noon-meal centres and schools and in other important places. Transit booths will function at railway stations, bus stands, and tourist spots. Mobile teams will reach those living in remote and inaccessible areas. Nearly two lakh personnel, including volunteers of non-governmental organisations, will take part in the campaign.

Ramadoss’ appeal to government

CHENNAI: PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Friday urged the government to raise the maximum age limit for Adi-Dravidar and ST candidates applying for civil judge posts through the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission from 38 to 43 and for Backward and Most Backward Classes from 35 to 40.
In a statement here, he said examinations were not conducted for recruiting civil judges in the past five years and the candidates lost an opportunity to apply. Considering this and also on the basis of last year’s order relaxing the age limit for joining government service by five years, the government should increase the age limit at least for the appointment of 201 civil judges. — Special Correspondent
