Polio immunisation drive tomorrow
CHENNAI: Even as 72 lakh children aged 5 were given pulse polio drops in the first phase of immunisation, the second phase will be conducted on February 10.About 30,000 children of construction workers from other States were administered the vaccine in the first phase. Those children covered in the first phase would be given the drops again on February 10, says a release from the Health Department. The Health and Family Welfare Department will set up more than 40,000 immunisation booths in government Hospitals, Primary Health Centres, health sub-centres, noon-meal centres and schools and in other important places. Transit booths will function at railway stations, bus stands, and tourist spots. Mobile teams will reach those living in remote and inaccessible areas. Nearly two lakh personnel, including volunteers of non-governmental organisations, will take part in the campaign.
